CBCT (3-D Imaging)

We have Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) technology. CBCT is a 3-D image that shows features of the tooth that are not visible on 2-D radiographs.

Advantages of the CBCT:
  • Quick and comfortable for the patient
  • Patient radiation is low (it uses a focused small field of view which requires a significantly smaller fraction of radiation (0.2 - 2.0%) compared to a medical head CT)
  • Identification of ways to save teeth that would otherwise need to be extracted
  • Identification of teeth that can't be saved before time and money is wasted
  • Diagnosis of disease in the teeth or bone that is unclear or not visible in 2-D radiographs
  • Location of additional canals
  • Identification of root canal system anomalies and root curvature
  • Assessment of treatment complications
  • Diagnosis and management of dental injuries (root fractures, loose teeth, bone fractures, etc.)
  • Diagnosis of unusual disorders that may be confused with tooth disease
  • Location of bone defects
